Hi all,
I've been having some problems with office 2007. I guess I qualify as what was called a 'power user' on the upgrade info. page. I've been using office 2007 for the better part of a week now, and am starting to learn my way around the interface.
In general I've been having problems with office freezing up, etc. Problems have occured when manipulating large datasets in excel, editing large files in powerpoint, or accessing files stored on other computers. I'm not doing anything I wasn't able to do in office 2003, but many commands are taking a lot longer now in addition to the 'freezing up' problems.
The computer i'm using is a relatively new one, only purchased last year, with 2.0 GB ram and a 3.39 GHz processor, so it's not like I'm trying to use a clunky old machine. Nonetheless I've had to restart office and recover documents 3 times in the last day and a half alone...
Given that we're all upgrading to office 2007 I was wondering if there were any hints or tips anyone had for making the programs run faster, etc (a low graphics setting or something similar perhaps?).
Thanks in advance for any help,
-John Klimek

So it appears that most of my 'freezing up' problems were caused by the autosave feature, and that problem went away after I de-activated it.
Nonetheless I'm still having problems with excel crunching numbers, and preforming other tasks slowly. From reading other discussion groups (what would I do without google?...) this slow preformance seems to be fairly common among people who have also upgraded to 2007.
A couple of postings I found helpful/informative:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730921.aspx
http://www.add-ins.com/Excel%202003%20versus%202007.htm
Still interested in hearing from anyone who has found ways around this general slowness with excel and the other office 2007 programs. The slower computational time is really cutting into the quantity of data I can process...
Thanks again to all
-John
