Just an FYI.
Symptom: Document that was recently converted to a .docx file is no longer editable.
Problem: Document is very old and originally created in WP6.0. It was then converted to Word 2000, then to Word 2003, and finally to Word 2007. It appears the formatting changes just cannot get upgraded one more time and have become corrupt.
Solution (sort of): Open document in Notepad and save as a text file. Open .txt file in Word 2007. All the formatting will have been lost, but at least the actual information will still remain and can be reformatted and edited.
Apparently I've been using a number of my training documents for many years
