|
|
A question that often comes up is will I have to convert my older Access database to the new version?
BTW: Many of you have have heard this from me before, but please, please back up your work and use copies whenever experimenting.
Going from Access 2003 to Access 2007
Opening and using these older DBs in 2007 will be no problem. For the most part the early DBs will perform as originally designed (be that good or bad).
The more critical piece to understand is that you cannot go the other direction with Access. Meaning that once it is in the native 2007 format, early versions of Access will NOT be able to access it.
The bottom line is, no you will not have to convert an Access 2003 database into the new format. In fact unless you have some very compelling reason to do so, I would not convert it.
If you choose to convert up, make sure all the users have 2007.
