Hi! I am new here. I am looking forward to an enjoyable experience testing out the Office 2007 package at OHSU till the migration occurs. I would like to share my experiences with you all, gradually.
Having tested and deployed Office 2007 at the lab in my previous institution, I have one first insight; to make it easier for everyone, use the compatibility mode. One can do this by going to the Office logo and clicking on the options of the individual program. In the Save tab, change the compatibility option to "{program name} 97-2003 compatibility". This preserves the old extensions, .doc., .xls, etc. and allows people without Office 2007 to interact seamlessly with Office 2007. I have found that it eases the transition.
More later.

The Word 2007 Quick Access toolbar is a tiny toolbar to the immediate right of the Office logo. You can put most commonly used clickable commands there by customizing it; you can put in the save, print, print preview, page setup, undo, redo and a host of other commands. This may be helpful for people who are making the migration from earlier Office versions.
I tried to find an option to include the 'close document' button, but could not.

if you choose "more commands" from the "customize quick access toolbar" drop down menu, the default selection source is "popular commands". change this selection to "all commands" and you will see an option for "close", as well as "close all".

| When all else fails Control W works like a charm to close a document and not the application.
