|
|
Excel 4 macros are still a mainstay in many companies, and very lengthy and intricate programs written in the macro language are entrenched fully in many places.
I've read that Excel 4 macros can be opened and run but not saved with Excel 2007. That in itself will be a hardship.
But worse, *the macros do not run the same in 2007.* For one thing, dialog definitions cannot display any graphical element (a picture, text box, graphic, etc.). Custom dialog boxes display all textual elements, but the places where graphics should appear are completely blank.
*This is a fatal flaw to any company that is dependent upon a program written with Excel 4 macros*, and there are thousands of them out there.
Companies will choose not to upgrade to Office 2007 just for this very reason. Non-working applications would present too much of a financial and logistical obstacle to overcome.
I truly hope that Microsoft considers immediately creating a patch to fix this bug.
