| We'd like to use Outlook's delegate access to allow instrument users to schedule use of the instrument. Outlook refuses to add more than 7 or 8 delegates for an account. Some of our instruments have a couple dozen users. Is there any way to keep this scheduling on a self-serve basis other than handing out the account password?

Steve,
Some clarification is needed here.
Do you have an account specifically setup for managing the Instrument in question? Sort of like a conference room might have it's own account for scheduling?
If so, what level of access do you wish each of the Instrument users to have? Do they need full access to the Instrument account?
One common model used is that there is one designated owner of that account. That owner can log into that account and provide access to it for all users who need it. Essentially, sharing the Instruments calendar with others and providing appropriate rights to them (from just view only up to owner level).
Let me know if that helps,
-M
