For those of you who have been wondering about what the migration will mean for you if you want to use Entourage with the new Exchange servers (as opposed to getting your email via imap in Entourage), the following link is a good place to start.

Excerpt from Intro:
"How Does Entourage Work?
As my blog is focused on Entourage as an 'Exchange Client', let's start with the most obvious topic which will provide details on how Entourage works with a mailbox on an Exchange Server. This blog will encompass the currently supported versions of Entourage & Exchange Server, i.e. Entourage 2004 & 2008, and Exchange 2000, 2003 & 2007. Let's list all the different features in Entourage for which it needs to talk to Exchange Server or any other server in a Windows Active Directory based environment."
In addition there is a very rich discussion group hosted at Google:

I am no expert and hope that our IT folks will begin to provide more information soon for the Mac community. For example, for some users, it may be simpler to use the web version of Outlook than it is to deal with some of the arcane issues (to my IT challenged brain) of how Entourage does or does not work like Outlook. If you only use the mail and calendar functions and never need to work off line, it may be simpler to use the Outlook web interface on your Mac (or run Outlook in Parallels).

My dept. is mostly Macs and I will tell you that after a couple of hours using Outlook on my Mac last Monday, I was extremely upset about the email migration. I don't know the experiences of other Mac users, but ours was a fiasco. Outlook only runs in basic on the Mac, which means it times out after ten minutes and if you want to search for an email, there is no find mode.
So the HelpDesk (those poor beleaguered people) suggested I move to Entourage and directed me to the web page where the configuration details were located. When I tried to configure Entourage I discovered that the sequence of fields was completely different; it was then that I discovered that the instructions that ITG provided were for Entourage 2008. Almost all of my research dept folks are on Macs and are holding to Office 2004 until it is compatible with Endnote, as I am sure other Mac users are. How was that detail overlooked? Why weren't the correct instructions provided?
So far I do like Entourage, but haven't moved my archives yet.
Pam
I was able to set up Entourage on my computer using the 2008 instructions as a general guide, but do wonder about the lack of attention given to the Mac community in this migration.

There is now a new update to Endnote that is compatible with Office 2008.
